About us

We have been established since 1847 and have one bowling green which is open from April to the beginning of September.

We are open to all ages, beginners and experienced alike. Instruction, help, encouragement are willingly provided.

Presently it is £38 to become a full member for a year, April to March and £6 to become a social member or a full Junior member. The full membership includes playing on the green during the summer season at no extra charge.

For those would like to play competitively during the season, we are members of 4 leagues within the Wakefield district. These are:

Playing in these leagues is entirely optional, though all are welcome. We have 2 teams in each league, 3 in the vets. We also play in the league knockout Cup competitions.

We have our own internal KO competitions during the season, culminating in a sociable Finals Day in early September.

We also have a good social scene, including Quiz nights, fun days, lunches out and a Christmas Lunch. As members you can also enjoy the bar facilities in the Sports Clubhouse.

For those would like to play in Winter, we have access to the Astro turf on Monday and Wednesday mornings from Mid-September to March, 10-12 noon. This is included in your membership but with an additional £2 per head for each session. This is purely social bowling. Non-members are welcome. They can join for a Winter membership which is currently £10 or just come along on the day and pay £4 per session (as opposed to members £2).
